THE PLAY BRIGADE

Hi folks! I wanted to share with you a little project I completed yesterday. It is a shadowbox for a very good friend of mine. The Play Brigade was founded when her family realized many local playgrounds are not equipped so her daughter Harper, who has mobility impairments, could play and socialize alongside her siblings and friends. The organization is just amazing as well as the founder Dawn. I am so proud of her. I wanted to show my support by making something special for her (as well as the other employees and volunteers) to make the office of The Play Brigade a little more special. 

I cut the logo with my silhouette machine first in vinyl to etch the glass. While I was frosting the glass, my computer went through it's automatic restart and I lost the exact dimensions of the logo. UGH!.So when it came time for me to cut the second logo (the inside piece) it did not match up perfectly.

 But I still love it. After, I got the glass done I began on the inside. I filled in the red and blue sections with paper roses. I hand cut, rolled and glued each one and added a tiny pearl in the centers of each one. I thought it just added the perfect touch. 

For a final touch I laid the paper piecing on top of an antique doily. I thought it tied in greatly with the pearls. I just love how it came out.
