HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Hello everyone. I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Since I am in line at a store about 200 deep on Black Friday, I thought I would share a cute foodie/craft from yesterday. I asked my mom what she wanted me to do for thanksgiving and she said ‘make cookies’. Ugh. So I took full advantage of the situation and made my first batch of sugar cookies with icing.

How adorable are these pumpkin pie cookies? I started out with a four inch circle to use as a template. Then I tried to cut eight uniformed ‘slices’.

I baked them and they came out in different sizes. I need to work on that.

Then I made up the icing which was the most difficult part. You need a firm batch for the cookie outline. Then you need a ‘not so’ firm icing batch to flood the space between the outlines. Then you need a batch of white (whipped cream), light brown (pie crust) and of course orange (for pumpkin filling).

They tasted like vanilla and not like pumpkin which I think the kids actually liked. And boy they were so good and soft. I can’t wait to try again with Christmas cookies. Stay tuned.

HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY ANDREW

Today is my nephew Andrew's 15th birthday. Like most teenagers, all he wants is money. I hate just putting money in a card even if the card is homemade. So this is what I did for him...
It is a tissue box filled with one dollar bills.
I opened up a brand new box on the side and removed the contents (with a helper).
I then taped all the money together. I rolled it all up and stuck it in the box. I taped the first bill to the lid of the box and hot glued the box closed. Then I decorated the box.
I love doing hand lettering, but obviously need more practice.
Another side...
This makes me laugh every time I look at it.
Haha, I think this came out so cute. I hope Andrew has the best birthday yet.

A BIG THANK YOU TO MY SISTER

Hi folks. I just want to share a cute card I made for my sister.
I stopped by her house one day last week and she went through her garden with me. She gave me a little bit of almost every plant she had to transplant at my house!!!!!! I was busy for hours after. I am positive that I planted the wrong things together but I will have fun next year too moving them to where they should be.
The pattern is from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs. I love how it came out and I know that my sister loved it as well. Thanks for looking.

FEEL BETTER EMILY

Hi folks. I just wanted to share another great 3D skate project that I did.
I made these for an amazing ice skater who has had a tough year of injuries.
I included a note that wished her a speedy recovery and signed it from 'one of her biggest fans'. She left a message on my voicemail that said she loved them. She was going to hang them in her room and keep them forever. :) You can't get better praise than that :) Feel better Emily.

HERB CAROUSEL

I am so excited to this year have a herb carousel. There is nothing like fresh herbs to cook with, especially in the summer. (I love to make garlic, chive butter for steaks and corn.)
I love my cameo especially when I can use it for other loves in my life like gardening!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER ALISON

Yesterday was my oldest sister's birthday. I had to wait til today to show you all what I made her.
Look, I made her a 3D sewing machine.
This is all made from paper with a real needle. The pattern is from Lori Whitlock.
When I finished, I thought it was a bit plain. So I attempted to dress it up a bit with paint and may have gone a little overboard.
I did alter the pattern a make it into a box to hide some yummy treats inside.
Thanks so much for looking.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARPER CAROLINE

Good morning everyone. Today is a very special day in my family...it is Harper Caroline's 3rd birthday. She is the cutest little girl in the world, so I wanted to really celebrate her day. Last month, I started on creating her 'birthday celebration' that starts out with this hand~lettering sign that I had sitting on top of a very big box I mailed her. (I still need practice!)
This is the tag that was on the first present in the box...
I guess I forgot to take of picture of the actually present wrapped. Sorry, but this is what was inside.
This was my first attempt at felt food. I love how adorable it all came out. Pancakes with butter and syrup, two strips of bacon, to fried eggs and a strawberry garnish. I hope she loves it all.
Come back a little later to see what's for lunch. :)

WELCOME TO THE WORLD NOVA

I want to share an adorable onsie and baby card that I just finished up for a special new baby.
How cute is this? I found it at Target with the wonder woman vinyl on it. I thought it might be a bit cuter if I put her name in the middle with matching glitter vinyl.
Here is the card that I made to go with the present.
How sweet.
This is the inside of the card. I am so excited for the new Mom and Dad and can't wait to meet Nova.
